GUILFORD, CT —Dawn Calvo, CEO of the New Haven Middlesex Association of REALTORS® announced that Jed Backus has been named NHMR Realtor of the Year for 2022.
Backus was recognized at the Association’s annual trade show held at the Association’s headquarters on Boston Post Road in Guilford.
Backus is a realtor with Backus Real Estate of Hamden. His extensive involvement with the Association includes chairing the NHMR Board of Directors for 2020 and 2021 and helping the Association and its members navigate through the pandemic. Backus currently serves on the Trade Federal Policy Committee of the National Association of Realtors, the Board of Directors of CT Realtors, and Vice President of Region 4. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Commercial Investments Division of NHMR, where he served as Past President. He was also director of the NAR in 2020 and 2021.
Backus resides in Guilford and has volunteered time and resources in the community, and provided mentorship to early career agents. He exemplified both through his dedication and professionalism what it means to be a leader in this field.
“In the grip of the pandemic, Jed has worked to ensure the organization continues to serve as a guide and resource through virtual and online platforms,” Calvo said. “He was in close communication with state and country leaders to keep members informed on politics, security and procedures. Despite uncertain times, he takes on this role without hesitation and pivots quickly to meet the challenges of the past two years. Jed has exemplary business ethics and a commitment to professionalism in the real estate industry. He is a real asset to our Association.
